For your Basic Coastal Cruising (BCC-103), and Bareboat Charter (BBC-104) certification:
Do you crave the wonders of sailing and dream of cruising
with your spouse, family, or a few friends exploring secluded islands
and swimming in crystal clear waters? Then make your dream a reality
with Lanier Sailing Academy's blue water, live-aboard Cruising Course.
Learn the skills you need while having fun aboard
a 40 foot yacht on Pensacola Bay or the British Virgin Inslands! You
will become Coastal
Cruising and/or Bareboat Charter certified and have a fantastic
vacation all at the same time. Spend the week aboard a luxurious
sailing yacht while an American Sailing Association
qualified instructor leads you through the steps and skills you need.
You'll learn:
- New systems used on big boats.
- Questions to be answered when
provisioning your trip and how to operate all domestic systems,
including the blender.
- Changing sails and reefing underway
(also known as "How to change a tire while the car is moving.")
- Anchoring techniques and how to pick
up a mooring that works every time.
- Simple systems to keep you from losing
a day's vacation when the engine won't start.
- Navigation fixes and how to apply them
so you can navigate those palm fringed islands of paradise.
- Provide questions to ask
your charter manager at check out, guaranteed to raise his confidence
in your abilities.
Approximately eight hours a day will be spent on sailing instruction;
the rest will be yours to play away swimming, snorkeling, reading,
eating, or sunning. You'll have a chance to anchor in a secluded
cove for a quiet dinner and swim. You'll sail new ports and explore
shops, scenery and restaurants. By the end of the week, you'll have
new tales to tell and important skills to take with you. We'll give
you a log book endorsed by our sailing master so you'll be able
to apply for American Sailing Association certification in Basic
Keelboat, Basic Coastal Cruising, and Bareboat Chartering.
Your tuition includes two levels of American Sailing Association
qualified instruction as well as room and board for a week (restaurant
meals and shopping expenses are not included).
All live-aboard cruise rates are per person based
on double occupancy. Singles are welcome. Air Fare, land tours and
ground transportation not included.
